MAIN STREET UPDATE

 CO-OPERATION ...from climate and people are helping to make the work to the road considerably easier. After having visited almost eighty businesses last week, informing them of the latest developments including the change of the one way traffic in Crescent Street, I was encouraged by the friendly and informative reception I got.

 One of the requests was signage to indicate the proximity of parking up Crescent Street and another was to indicate the non-parking area at the yield sign. Both are being considered and will most likely take place. The main concern however was the state of affairs during the coming Easter period. The manager supervising the work could not indicate the exact progress at that stage, as it depends a lot on the weather, but assured me that one side of the street will definitely be available for parking. The pedestrian crossings will also be changed, nearer the completion date, from a yield sign to a 'Zebra crossing' together with the appropriate legal signage. A raised 'Zebra crossing' is also being considered.
