World-first for Knysna Elephant Park

Harry the Elephant, one of the gentle giants at the Knysna Elephant Park has something to be proud of. He's the world's first elephant to try his hand (or shall we rather say 'trunk') at winemaking. He's now become something of a winemaster. Read More  

 Local actor hosts acting workshops at Plett Primary

  Local actor, Stuart Palmer and the Grade 7 learners are having loads of fun. Stuart was invited by Plett Primary to develop a number of theatre pieces based on the six key values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship. These theatre pieces will form the basis of the drama curriculum evaluation at the end of the first term when a special evening showcasing the pieces is being organized for parents and friends. Municipality looking at alternative

electricity options  

Bitou Municipality's Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Department is exploring various alternative power sources. They are also reviewing current load saving options.  The Municipality currently buys about 20MW a month from ESKOM for its six main stations in Plettenberg Bay and the surrounding areas. During the past seven years, Bitou's consumption has increased by about six percent due to population growth and continued development. Read More

National Pregnancy Week this year runs from 16 to 23 February and Medi Clinics nationwide are once again participating in the Medi-Twinkle programme. Expecting mothers and their partners will be educated about pregnancy, birth and baby care. The focus will also include the role of the father throughout the entire process. Read More

   Val Ludgrove Estates hosts International Cheese and Wine gathering

 Val Ludgrove Estates held their annual international cheese and wine evening on Monday. The event was well attended by international guests, which included visitors from the Netherlands, England and Germany.
