Local Jeweller wins national
competition
Lisa van
Zyl of Firefly Jewellers won a national
jewellery design competition held annually by the Roland
jewellery equipment company, Harmony Gold and American Swiss.
Lisa used Computer Aided Designing (CAD) for her winning
designs.

Lisa
van Zyl and some of her unique creations
“CAD
is definitely the new trend in jewellery designing, as the
customer can virtually see what they are getting before any
manufacturing is done. This allows the customer the freedom to
makechanges to the design,” she said.
Lisa
matriculated at Wittedrift High School in 2006 and is studying
jewellery manufacturing and design under her dad's watchful eye
at Firefly Jewellers. They specialise in the unique designing of
fine jewellery and also the manufacturing of designs in precious
metals, diamonds,
tanzanite and other precious stones. The CAD design looks
exactly like the finished product and the beauty of it is that
the customer will be able to see what the design will look like
in different metals and with different stones.
